Excavations have included significant remains of John Petrie’s iron works at the new Rochdale Bus Station site on River Street and a 17th century farmstead at Castle Farm, Kingsway.

In addition several archaeological building surveys were undertaken at Spotland Bridge Mill, Pioneer Mill, Victory Mill, Mutual Mill, Unity Mill, and Booth Hollins Mill.


GMAU also commented on major historic townscape studies for Housing Market Renewal areas for Heywood, Kirkholt and Inner Rochdale, and also visited and commented on two rare survivals of Rope Works in Heywood.
